Honestly, I have things that I like to do, but I really struggle to find a career.
Heck, I might be a ditch digger or a learned philosopher. I'm only twelve, but in six years I'll have to make these decisions.
Sure, people say "You're only a kid. Don't worry about it." But still.
And I really like the area I am living in. I don't know if I want to leave it.
So, do I go to Northland College? Well, It's a small college with fewer offerings and opportunities. And if you want to do something uncommon and specialized that the college doesn't offer, Northland is out. But I guess I could live with it, especially because it is very environmentally friendly.
But then, that doesn't answer the question of what I could do when I grow up.
So maybe I should look at the things I like:
Reading
Writing
Music
Running and playing in the woods
Bike riding
Learning about the world around me (aka maps, learning languages, watching documentaries)
Can I form a career out of these things? Like becoming an linguistics professor and having cycling as a hobby, or becoming a wildlife biologist who occasionally writes a book? Or an bush pilot in Alaska who touches down every once in a while to listen to music?
Man, that would be tough.
But, the good news is, I have SIX YEARS to decide on all this. By then, maybe my interests will have changed. And by then, I'll have had more time to explore this wonderfully wide world of ours.
I guess I could be a caveman...
