The Joys of Skating

Push, push, push, push
Back and forth, always pushing
Glide around the turn
Or cross your skates
And begin again
Push, push, push, push

I come to a halt
On the rubber
I go inside
And grab a stick and puck
For me and my friends
To pass back and forth
No goals, No rules
Steal it and pass it
And time goes on

I watch the hockey game
Too wild for me
Maybe someday
When I can work up
All that courage
That's stored in reserve

But that will be another day
When I will play the hockey game
No thank you

I glide away
But It's getting late
I realize my heel has a blister
And my legs ache like mad.
I go inside
And hope my blister heals soon
So I can skate another day.
