A Number Trick

This is a fun number trick I made up. If you're not too good at math, use a calculator.

Think of a number
Add 2
Multiply by 3
Subtract 5
Add 8
Divide by 3
Subtract 1
Subtract the number you first thought of

The number that you come up with should be 2.
If you did not get 2, there is something wrong in your calculations (or in mine).
